Small, independent and full of personality. The Pickle is our little corner of Brighton, built on homemade food, fermentation and very good neighbours.

Two People, One Very Big Love of Pickles
The Pickle is run by owners Sam and Denisa. It's a takeaway speciality sandwich and coffee shop on Bristol Road in Kemptown, and everything on the counter is made by us.
Sam knows fermentation inside out and will happily walk you through the whole pickling process if you're curious. Denisa's morning bake display is the reason a lot of people arrive early. Together they've turned a small shop into one of Kemptown's most talked-about lunch spots, mostly by word of mouth.
Our upside-down pineapple cake was introduced to us by a cousin, Molly, when we first opened, and it's been on rotation ever since. That's pretty much how the menu works: things we love, made properly. See the full line-up on our sandwich and bakes menu.

Even the Wrapping Paper Is Pickled
Our hand-drawn pickle, the one peeking out of the hole on the shopfront, turns up everywhere: on the wrapping paper, the posters and now on socks too. Take a sandwich down to the seafront and you're taking a little bit of Kemptown with you.

Welcome to the Pickle Square
There's no indoor seating, but on a sunny Brighton day the outdoor tables under the bunting are the best seats in Kemptown. We call it the pickle square. It's kinda a triangle.
